Our Blue Eyed Casanova

I think that I have taught Evan a bad habit. I love picking him up and kissing him all over his face. Lately, he has started doing it back. He will come over to me when I am sitting down and crawl in my lap and then start "kissing" me which for him is basically open mouthed drooling all over my face. He loves it and will just giggle away.

Other than the slimed face, I haven't really thought it was a problem...until today. Today after Sacrament meeting Evan and two little girls were standing by each other and Evan had a huge smile on his face. All of a sudden, he leans in and almost planted and open mouthed wet one on the closest little girl. Both the little girl's father and I reached down to stop the impending kiss, but Evan undaunted went for the other little girl. This might be trouble....

Other exciting things about Evan is he has started saying "Hi" and "Bye". Wherever we are he will start waving and saying hi to anyone he see. We were in Costco the other day and I think he said hello to the whole store. One lady asked me how I got him to do it and I replied that he jsut started doing it himself. He is a very friendly little guy that loves people.

It also has been amazing to see how capable he is at doing different things.
*He has a little mouse toy that the ears twist and he is now able to do it.
*I went to check on him the other day because he was being really quiet and he had crawled up into the chair in his room and was looking at a book.
*He loves turning the light on and off.
*Has a knack for toilet papering. I have a great video of him toilet papering his exersaucer... the only problem is I can't get it to upload.

We are loving watching him grow and learning new things.

Winchester's Apple Blossom Festival

So I have a bad habit of putting up pictures, becoming distracted and not writing what was going on . These pictures were from the Apple Blossom Festival that is held in Winchester every year. It is amazing. So much stuff to do and lots of pink and green. My friend had told me about the circus and how as a little girl she would go early in the morning of the first day and watch the elephants put up the tents. I decided this would be fun to see so we woke up at 7:00 Friday morning and headed off . There weren't any elephants putting up tents, but there were ponies...
The tent putting up process was all mechanical, but Nathan and Evan had fun pointing at different things and talking about them.

Later that day we went to the Fireman's parade. It is the biggest fireman's parade in the U.S. and had some great old firetrucks, bands, and tons of princesses.
Evan really liked the bands. He would clap when they walked by.

The grand marshal was Eric Estrada. Hooray! He was blowing kisses at everyone. It was hilarious.
and here is one cool fire truck.
The main parade and festivities were the next day, but our family pretty much slept through it all this year. Even though we live about 5 blocks from all the action. Can't wait for next year!

Evan & Ron

We had Ron and Liz Steele from Paradox come visit us for the weekend. We did a lot of fun things like exploring our home town of Winchester and also going to Gettysburg for the day. Evan loved having the extra attention and I think Ron enjoyed having someone to play with.

Easter Sunday 2009

I tried to take pictures of Evan in his cute little Easter outfit before church, but he was too quick for me. I would put him down, back up, fumble with my camera, and by the time I was ready to take a picture; he was right on top of me.
So I resorted to holding him and that worked out better....
Then I had Nathan hold him, but Evan wanted to be running around...
He came around though,
Someday we will set up the tripod and have a picture with all three of us in it at the same time.
After church we went over to our friend's house the Bridges for dinner and then had and Easter egg hunt in their backyard.
Once Evan got the idea of what he was supposed to be doing, he went for it.
Looking for the next egg

and once he found an egg, he would chew on it for a while...

After Max and Evan found all the eggs they sat down to admire/eat their treasures...

Evan liked the grass the best...
Max loved opening up the Easter Eggs and dumping out all the treats inside....
and then Evan would help him eat them....

What a cute Dad!!!
After we hunted for Easter eggs we came in and dyed real eggs.

We had a great time. Happy Easter Everybody!

Unpacking

Evan was in his room today and he was being a little to quiet. So I went in to see what he was up to. He had taken out all his baby clothes that I had neatly packed away under his bed and was throwing them around his room and was lookig so dang cute doing it.

Evan's First Birthday: A Trip to the Zoo

For Evan's first birthday we decided to take our little man to the National Zoo in DC...Our first stop was a visit to the Sloth Bear. It looked like a big hairy dog.
We watched it suck termites up through a straw....appetizing!
Nathan lifted up Evan so he could see the otters...
Evan is happy to see the view from up on his Dad's shoulders.....
Our overall family favorite was seeing the red Panda...

What a cute family!
Evan liked the Panda. He wanted to crawl in with him...
and who wouldn't. Laying around...eating bamboo all day. It's the life....
Evan did not like lunch. He had more fun throwing his sandwich on the ground for the birds to eat.
Then it was off to see the hippopatamuses. This is a pygmy.Evan loved watching the Elephants from Dad's Shoulders...

A Mongolian Horse
This little monkey was so little and so dang cute...
and then there was this guy
Evan liked watching the alligator. He kept watching it. I don't know if he knew what to make of it.
It never moved...
More Walking and Looking.....
At Lions and .....
Tigers and....
And then our little Birthday Boy was tired so it was time to go home.... Happy Birthday Evan!!!
